About the scholarship
The Government of Manipur invites applications for Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students, Manipur 2019-20 from ST students of class 9 and 10 who are residents of Manipur. The scholarship aims to support ST students studying in classes 9 and 10 and minimise the incidence of drop-out in the transition from elementary to secondary stage of education. The selected scholars will receive variable awards. 

Eligibility for the scholarship
1. Be a domicile of Manipur
2. Belong to ST category
3. Be studying in class 9 and 10 as a regular, full-time student at a Government School or a recognized school
4. Have an annual family income of not more than INR 2 Lakhs from all sources

Benefits of the scholarship
1. INR 150 per month to day scholars and INR 350 per month to hostellers
2. Book and Ad hoc grant of INR 750 per annum today scholars and INR 1,000 per annum to hostellers
3. Additional allowances of up to INR 240 per month to students with disability

Term and condition
1. The scholarship is payable for 10 months in an academic year. 
2. The scholarship award shall continue subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance. 
3. If a student is repeating a class, he/she would not get the scholarship for that class for a subsequent year. 

Application procedure
1. An application for scholarship should comprise:
a. One copy of the application for scholarship in the prescribed form (separate application forms as have been prescribed for ‘fresh’ and renewal scholarship[ by concerned States/UTs).
b. One copy of the passport size photograph with signatures of the student thereon (for fresh scholarship)
c. A certificate (in original) of Scheduled Tribe duly signed by an authorized Revenue Officer below the rank of Tehsildar.
d. An income declaration by the self-employed parents/guardians, stating definite income from all sources by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper. Employed parents/guardians are required to obtain income certificate from their employer and for any additional income  from other sources, they would furnish declaration by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper.
e. A receipt in acknowledgement of the scholarship in the previous year on the form attached to the application only duly counter-signed by the Head of the Institution/School concerned, if the applicant was in receipt of a scholarship under this scheme in the preceding year.
2. Application complete in all respects, shall be submitted to the Head of the Institution/School, being attended or last attended by the candidates and shall  be forwarded by the Head of Institution, after scrutiny and with his recommendation, to the sanctioning authority.
