About the scholarship
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India invites applications for Umbrella Scheme for Education of ST Students Pre Matric Scholarship, Arunachal Pradesh 2019-20 from ST students of class 9 and 10 who are residents of Arunachal Pradesh. The scholarship aims to support the education of ST students studying in class 9 and 10 and to reduce the incidence of drop-out in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage. The selected scholars will receive variable awards. 

Eligibility for the scholarship
1. Be studying in class 9 or 10
2. Belong to Scheduled Tribe
3. Be a domicile of Arunachal Pradesh
4. Have an annual family income not exceeding INR 2 lakh
5. Not be availing any other Centrally-funded Pre Matric Scholarship
6. Be a regular, full-time student studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by the Government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education

Benefits of the scholarship
1. Scholarship of INR 150 per month to day scholars and INR 350 per month to hostellers
2. Books and Ad hoc grant of INR 750 per annum to day scholars and INR 1,000 per annum to hostellers
3. An additional allowance of up to INR 240 per month to ST students with disabilities

Term and condition
1. The scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. The student will not receive the scholarship for repetition of that class in the subsequent year.
2. The scholarship will be payable for 10 months in an academic year.
3. The award once made will continue subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance. It will be renewed for class 10 after the student passes class 9. 
4. The provisions of this Scheme can be changed at any time at the discretion of the Government of India.
5. If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statements, his/her scholarship will be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered. 

Application procedure
1. One copy of the application for scholarship in the prescribed form (separate application forms as have been prescribed for ‘fresh’ and renewal scholarship by concerned States/UTs).
2. One copy of the passport size photograph with signatures of the student thereon (for fresh scholarship).
3. A certificate (in original) of Scheduled Tribe duly signed by an authorized Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
4. An income declaration by the self-employed parents/guardians, stating definite income from all sources by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper. Employed parents/guardians are required to obtain income certificate from their employer and for any additional income from other sources, they would furnish declaration by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper.
5. A receipt in acknowledgement of the scholarship in the previous year on the form attached to the application only duly counter-signed by the Head of the Institution/School concerned, if the applicant was in receipt of a scholarship under this scheme in the preceding year.
