1. India were defeated 2-22 by New Zealand in the Women's Hockey World Cup.

Despite putting on a strong showing against New Zealand in their Pool B encounter, the Indian women's hockey team lost 3-4. India is still in the running for a ticket in the quarterfinals despite placing third in Pool B. For a spot in the last eight, India will play the team that finishes second in Pool C in the crossover encounter on July 10.

2. Kapil Dev will be the honoree at the 2022 Melbourne Indian Film Festival.

The Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, Australia, in 2022 has invited legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev to serve as the festival's honoree (IFFM). In honour of Kabir Khan's film '83,' which follows the journey of the Indian team captained by Kapil Dev that won the 1983 World Cup, he will be present at the festival. The film festival will take place in Melbourne, Australia, from August 12–20, 2022, both physically and electronically. It essentially took place in 2020 and 2021. Tabu, Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, Vijay Sethupathi, and Zoya Akhtar, among others, hosted the festival in 2019.

3. India will mark a day of national sorrow on July 9.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a day of national mourning in memory of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who unfortunately passed away after being shot during a campaign rally in Kyoto's Nara area on July 9. Shinzo Abe was bleeding as he was taken to the hospital after collapsing from a chest shot. He displayed no vital signs and reportedly experienced "cardiopulmonary arrest." The accused shooter has been detained by the Japanese Police, and the weapon has been taken away. According to reports, the shooter is a 41-year-old Nara City resident.

4. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu crashed out of the Malaysia Masters 2022

PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, was eliminated from the Malaysia Masters 2022 on July 8, 2022, after falling to Tai Tzu-ying in the quarterfinals. Within the first 14 minutes, PV Sindhu dropped the first game 13–21, but she rallied and played forcefully to win the second game 21–12. Despite having a strong start to the decider and being ahead even at the break, she began to lose control of the match after the break and lost 12-21.

5. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reportedly stormed out of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting

After western nations criticised Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, reportedly stormed out of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting on July 8, 2022, in Bali, Indonesia. Before the meeting, the US and its allies denounced Russia's assault, and before the closed-door talks, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was subjected to a storm of Western criticism. The day-long meetings were opened in the presence of Russian FM Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The host nation, Indonesia, brought up the conflict in Ukraine at the meeting's outset, stating that it needed to be resolved through discussions. As his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock criticised Russia for its incursion, Lavrov left a morning meeting. Before Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba's virtual address, he also left the afternoon session. Additionally, he missed Blinken's speech.
