  1. Muqtada al-Sadr is the founder of Iraq’s most powerful political faction and an Iraqi Shia scholar. In the most recent instance, Iraq experienced a political crisis after Muqtada al-Sadr announced his intention to leave Iraqi politics, prompting his supporters to storm the Presidential Palace. He is the founder of the Sadrist movement, which is nationalist in nature and draws support from the country’s poor Shiite community.
  2. After defeating Bangladesh by 7 wickets on August 30, 2022, Afghanistan Cricket qualified for the Super four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 tournament. Afghanistan has reached the tournament’s final four stages for the second time since its debut in 2014.

Angela Merkel, the former German Chancellor, was awarded the UNESCO Peace Prize for her “efforts to welcome refugees.” She was recognized for her “courageous decision to welcome more than 1.2 million refugees, primarily from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Eritrea” in 2015. Angela Merkel served as German Chancellor for 16 years before stepping down in 2021.
