National Recruitment Agency-Key Highlights


Background.

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi simultaneously approved to set up National Recruitment Agency. The purpose of the agencies to conduct a common preliminary examination in the country which will be known as Common Eligibility Test (CET). This initiative was already announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman during the Union Budget in the month of February 2020.

What is all about National Recruitment Agencies- National Recruitment Agency is  A National level multi Agency body to conduct the Common Eligibility Test for the recruitment of Non-Gazetted Post in the Government and Public Sector Bank.

Highlights of NRA

  • The National Recruitment Agency will conduct an online examination for shortlisting the candidate for the group- B-and Group-C which recruitments are now carried out by SSC, RRB, and IBPS. later on, other exams will be brought under the NRA umbrella.
  • Examination centers will be set up in each district.
  • The recruitment will be based on the Common Eligibility Test (CET) score and the final recruitment will be done through specialized agencies.  
  • National Recruitment Agency will be comprised of  an officer equivalent rank of Union Secretary along with the representatives of SSC, RRB, IBPS,
  • For the first three years, 1,517,57 Crore have been sanctioned by the Union Cabinet.
  • The present recruitment agencies like SSC, RRB, IBPS will remain in the place.
Highlights of Common Eligibility Test (CET)
  • Common Eligibility Test is an online examination that will screen the candidate for their eligibility for various central other government jobs.
  • A candidate who qualifies CET will be eligible for appearing further selection phase tire-2 and tire -3.
  • The examination will be conducted twice in a year.
  • Common Eligibility Test (CET) will be conducted in 12 languages which are mentioned in the 8th Scheduled of Indian Consitution.
  • The CET Score of the candidate will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of the result.
  • The examination will be conducted based on the common curriculum.
  • There will be common registration and a single fee structure and save cost and time spent on writing multiple examinations.
  •  Students can write the exam multiple times as long as they are within the eligible age limit.
  • CET will be conducted for three levels of graduate, higher secondary, and matriculation candidates for the nontechnical posts to which recruitment is presently conducted by the three agencies SSC, RRB, and IBPS.

Advantages for the government job aspirants.
  • National Recruitment Agency will benefit around 25 million job seekers.
  • Applicants will not have to apply and appear multiple recruitments exams multiple times. The candidate will be able to apply once for multiple recruitment exam. 
  • CET will reduce significantly the lengthy exam burden of the candidates.
  • A candidate who clear CET will not be required for the PT Screening test for three years.
  • The candidate will not be restricted to make a number of attempts. Attempts of the candidate are required within the eligible age. Candidate can appear the number of the exam until he/she scores the eligibility score of the exam.
  • The candidate will be allowed to choose their choice of examination centers.
  • The candidate will not have to spend money on transportation, lodging, boarding to reach their exam destination as the exam center will be near to their home cities.
  • Relaxation in upper age limit will be given to the candidates of SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per the policy.
