On December 9, the Assembly met for the first time to draft the Constitution.
On August 29, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was appointed as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee.
The Constituent Assembly formally adopted the Constitution. This date is now celebrated as Samvidhan Diwas.
The Constitution came into full legal force, marking the Republic Day.
